Blockages will prevent waste and other matters from leaving the property and can casue severe issues and flooding.
You may have a blockage if:
- The toilet will not flush correctly
- Sink and bath water drains slowly or not at all
- Your drains produce an unpleasant smell.
When waste cannot be drained correctly, it can cause flooding around the home. Always be sure to flush away faecal matters and toilet paper only not:
- Fat, oil and food
- Wet wipes, cotton buds and sanatory items.
A CCTV drainage survey is carried out with a camera system, which is placed down the drains using rods, to determine if there are any faults or underlying issues within the system.
This type of technology has now become an essential tool in the industry and is a very cost effective way to inspect and carry out surveys in underground drains, sewers and culverts.
CCTV drainage surveys allow data to be collated safely and efficiently, without the need for operatives to go into confined spaces to discover any underlying issues, that can be hazardous for them and more importantly the customer
CCTV drainage surveys are a cost effective way to ensure there are no underlying issues with the drainage system without the need of excavation
When a blockage has been discovered, they are used to determine the root cause of that particular blockage.
Drain re-lining is an excellent way to repair drains without the hassle of excavation. It is also a very cost effective way to repair broken drains while keeping disruption to a minimum.
Drain re-lining involves a method called inversion, which is a process of installing a new pipe or lining which bonds to the inside of the damaged pipe. Water or air pressure is used to fit the lining tightly and securely against the wall of the damaged pipe, restoring the free flowing function of the drain or sewer.
Broken drain work is usually covered by your home insurance, however it would cost you more to raise a claim on your policy as it will increase your premiums and you will usually have to pay a hefty excess before the work is carried out.Read More
Pitch fibre pipes were used between the 1950's and 1970's and are a poor type of drainage material. Normal waste water can drain smoothly through pitch fibre piping, however it can react adversely when hot water, fats or oils run through it.
Pitch fibre is made from wood cellulose and coal tar which over time warps when it is exposed to water and high temperatures.
We can carry out a CCTV survey to determine if you have pitch fibre piping and what condition it is in. Based on this information we can then give you a solution if it is required.Read More
A soak away is a Sustainable Urban Drainage System (SUDS) and is effectively a hole filled with rubble, stone or crates that allows the water to be evenly soaked into the ground without causing flooding. Soak away's should not be installed within clay soils as this will cause major problems with waterlogging and flooding.
Soak away's are an effective way to drain storm water at the source instead of putting pressure on sewer systems that are more prone to water damage.
The great thing about soak away's is that they are very easy to maintain and much more cost effective than other drainage solutions. It is advisable however that you make sure they are checked every couple of months for any silting or contamination.Read More
